The ADJD register is for non-Muslim wills. Federal Decree-Law 41 of 2022 on civil personal status lets non-Muslims in the UAE choose how their estate is distributed, and registering a will is how that choice is recorded. Inheritance for a Muslim UAE or GCC national follows a different legal path, so this route is not the right one in that case, and our assessment says so before you spend anything.

No. What matters is that you have assets here. Someone who has moved away and kept a Dubai apartment or a UAE bank account is exactly who this route is built for, because those assets sit under UAE law wherever you live. Residency changes some of the identity documents you supply, not whether you can register.

Twenty-one. That is the age the ADJD form itself uses for the person making the will, and it is the first thing our assessment checks. It is separate from the two other ages that come up in a will: a child under eighteen has a guardian named for them, and a child's inheritance is held on trust until they turn eighteen.

A will registered with the ADJD is in English with a certified Arabic translation alongside it, because the court reads Arabic. The translation is done by a certified legal translator and carries their stamp and signature. MyHaven includes that translation in the price rather than charging for it separately once you are committed.

Not on the ADJD route. The will is signed in front of a notary on a video call rather than in front of witnesses, so there are no extra diaries to coordinate. The DIFC Wills Service works differently and involves two witnesses, which is one of the practical differences between the two registries.

Your passport photo page in colour, your Emirates ID front and back if you are a resident, and the will itself in English and Arabic with the translator's certification on it. You also supply the identity details of everyone named in the will: full names as they appear on their passports, dates of birth, nationalities and addresses.

Yes. A will registered with the ADJD covers your assets across the UAE, in all seven emirates, which is why people living in Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah register there. It does not cover assets you hold in another country. Those follow that country's own law and usually need a separate will made there.

Two figures, paid to two different people. Our service fee for a single will is 699 AED, and the ADJD's own registration fee is 950 AED. For a mirror pair it is 999 AED to us and 1,900 AED to the court. The court fee is paid directly to the court and never to MyHaven.

An optional ADGM fast-track notarization is available at 570 AED per will, on top of the court's own fee. It is a speed-up rather than a different will: the document and the registration are the same. Your case owner can talk you through whether it is worth it once your draft is ready.

The court's registration fee is the one cost that sits outside it, because it is paid to the court.

No. The service fee is shown before you pay and it does not move afterwards. The only other cost is the court's own registration fee, which the court charges and the court receives. Changes to an already registered will are quoted case by case, because the work depends on what is changing.

A UAE will names two roles. An interim guardian who can act immediately, ideally someone already in the UAE, and a permanent guardian for the long term, who often lives abroad. Name an alternate for each, and ask everyone first. A guardian who learns about it from a document is a guardian who might say no.

Eighteen. A child under eighteen has a guardian named for them in the will; an older child is an adult who can inherit without one. MyHaven works this out from the dates of birth you enter rather than asking you to do the arithmetic, so a family with a sixteen year old and a twenty year old gets it right automatically.

It is held on trust rather than handed to a minor, and it comes out of trust when the child turns eighteen. That applies whether the child receives a specific gift or a share of the rest of the estate. You can name a trustee to hold and manage it, and that does not have to be the same person as the guardian.

Yes. Guardianship is asked about inside each child's card in the drafting wizard rather than as one answer for everybody, so a blended or separated family can give one child a different guardian team from another. The will is then drafted with one appointment block per arrangement.

Yes. A will is not permanent and life changes: a marriage, a divorce, a new child, a property bought or sold. Changes to an already registered will are quoted case by case, because the work depends on what is changing and how far along the will is. Your case owner will tell you what is involved before anything is charged.

Somewhere the people who will need it can actually reach, not only in your own email. Tell your executor that the will exists and where the copy is, because a will nobody can find does not help anyone. MyHaven customers keep the court's copy in their account folder for exactly that reason.

Usually, yes. A UAE will covers your UAE assets. Property and accounts held in another country generally follow that country's law, so the normal answer is a second will made there, written so the two do not contradict each other. Tell us during the assessment if you own assets abroad, because it changes what we recommend.

Your case owner, and the certified translator who produces the Arabic version of your will. Nobody else has a reason to and nobody else is given one. Documents stay in your account rather than being sent over chat, which is why we ask for them there even when a conversation is happening on WhatsApp.

Your documents are encrypted where they are stored, identity numbers such as passport and Emirates ID numbers are encrypted before they are written to our database, and everything is encrypted in transit.
